Third Interview
This week, I had an interview with an Associate Professor of English at SMU named Katie Condon. From her, I learned that I must have grace with myself while writing, meaning I try to block out my own self critic and avoid revising while I am drafting for the first time. I also learned that reading is a very important part of writing because it can help to expand vocabulary, grammar, and even help one better understand how to write a good plot. I think that this will help me as I move forward through different drafts, because it will help enhance my story.
I began writing a second book that has been spinning around in my head so long as I have the ideas so I can get it onto paper. I think it's important to get out my ideas while I have them so I can produce the best work. I think that moving forward, I will continue to write when it makes the most sense and when I think it's an idea that can make a good story. Writing this new book has allowed me to grow as a writer because I was able to go through a research process and write based on some of that. I think it will really help me with writing in the future.
